De Europese meubelkoepel EFIC bericht dat er een nieuwe ‘Regulation’ is uitgegeven om export naar andere Europese landen te stimuleren. Deze “Regulation” bemoeilijk bovendien de import vanuit (lage lonen) landen die het niet zo nauw nemen met de regelgeving rond giftige stoffen, veiligheid, milieu en andere zaken. Daarbij is er extra aandacht voor export van mkb-bedrijven.
Dit ondersteunt ook de klacht van EFIC tegen de UK, dat hun zware eisen rond vlamvertragers handelsbarrieres opwerpen, die slecht zijn voor de Europese ‘single market.’ In de voorbeelden (zie video) wordt ook extra aandacht gevraagd voor furniture.

On 19th December the European Commission has presented two legislative proposals (Regulations – directly applicable in EU Member States) which will be relevant for the furniture industry:
- Proposal for a Regulation on the mutual recognition of goods lawfully marketed in another Member State
- Proposal for a Regulation laying down rules and procedures for compliance with and enforcement of Union harmonisation legislation on products
